Background: Adolescents running away from home is a sensitive and delicate issue in the field of psychological and social problems. Numerous studies have been conducted on the factors affecting teenagers running away from home, most of which are quantitative, However, so far, little qualitative research has focused on identifying the psychological and social factors affecting girls' running away from home in Chaharmahal and Bakhtiari Province.
Aims: The aim of this study was to identify the psychological and social factors affecting girls running away from home in Chaharmahal and Bakhtiari Province.
Methods: This research was conducted with a qualitative approach and thematic analysis method using three-stage coding. The study population in this study includes all runaway girls in Chaharmahal and Bakhtiari Province who have files in welfare centers and the police force, and also all the experts (social workers from the welfare organization and school counselors) it was in 2024, who had work experience in the field of runaway girls. The study sample included 32 people (18 runaway girls and 14 experts) from the two aforementioned groups. They were selected using Purposive Sampling (based on research entry criteria). A semi-structured interview was used to collect data. The interviews were also analyzed using thematic analysis and three-stage coding.  
Results: The results of this study revealed six core categories including emotional instability, ineffectiveness in regulating emotions, impaired social functioning, vulnerability of personality structure, lack of identity and self-perception crisis, and family and support failure, and identified four macro themes including psychological fragility and negative mood, maladaptive personality, inability to resolve conflict and ineffective interactions, and family insecurity and emotional rejection
Conclusion: Considering the identification of three categories of psychological factors and one social factor as factors affecting running away from home in adolescent girls in this study, It is recommended that if any of the four factors mentioned are identified, these girls and their families be referred for specialized psychological services. The findings of the present study can also be used to prepare a treatment interventions related to runaway adolescent girls.
