Abstract

The birth of a step family as a consequence of divorce or death of one of the parents causes a huge difference in a child’s life which can change his entire psychological world. Drawing as one of the ways of psychological projections can display a variety of conflicts in children psyche..This study has attempted to examine and comparison of psychological projections between children from step families and non-step families based on the family drawing test. In this study, devaluation as a content indicator in drawing projections was approached. The participants included 40 children from stepfamilies, 20 female and 20 male (parental divorce, the death of a parent, remarriage). Having a descriptive qualitative framework, these participants were selected based on a causal comparative method. The control group included 40 children from non-step families, 20 female and 20 male selected randomly. To analyze projections and devaluation in the drawings. Draw A Family (DAF) test was employed  The finding indicated that in all the hypotheses children from non-step families performed significantly different. Therefore, it can be generally concluded that the children from non-step families significantly displayed more devaluation of themselves and the family members in their drawings.

Abstract

Background: Numerous studies have investigated nurses 'experience of stress and resiliency, but research that has explored nurses' experience of resilience and stress in the context of the field-dependent theory method has been neglected. Aims: To explain the nurses' experience of stress and resilience in the context of field-dependent theory. Method: The study was a qualitative study based on Glazier method. The statistical population of the study consisted of all the heads of Shohadaye Tajrish hospital in Tehran in year 1398. Fifteen individuals were selected using purposive sampling method. The information was collected through semi-structured interviews until theoretical saturation. Data were analyzed using open, axial and selective coding. Results: from the participants' point of view, five main factors related to nurses' stressfulness emerged in the hospital environment that could reflect nurses' perceptions of stressors and resiliency factors, including organizational justice perception, Interpersonal factors, environmental factors, patient factors, and family factors. Conclusions: According to the results, factors affecting the promotion of resilience of nurses include coping strategies, conflict management strategies, error handling strategies, perceived personal resources, and job-related factors

Abstract

Background: Absence of intimacy and low level of differentiation of couples can be one of the reasons of divorce among couples. Although the effectiveness of cognitive-behavioral couple therapy has been confirmed on different variables, no research has been performed on its effectiveness on the levels of differentiation, studied population, and comparison of this treatment with systemic-behavioral treatment.
Aims: This study was performed to compare the effectiveness of systemic-behavioral and cognitive-behavioral couple therapy and self-differentiation of couples who have martial conflicts.
Methods: The present research was a quasi-experimental study with pretest-posttest design and two-month follow-up with control group. The statistical population consisted of couples referring to two healthcare centers of district 4 of Tehran because of marital conflicts in 2019-2020. From among the clients of these two centers, after completing the questionnaire of marital conflict (Sanaei, 2008), 27 couples (n=54) were chosen and after matching, they were assigned into three groups (two experimental and one control). The research instruments included the Thompson and Walker's Marital Intimacy Scale (1983), Skowron and Friedlander self-differentiation questionnaire (1998). One of the experimental groups received systemic-behavioral couple therapy of Crow and Ridley (2005), while the other group received cognitive-behavioral couple therapy protocol of Dattilio (2009) as couple in ten 90-min sessions. Data analysis was performed using mixed variance analysis and Bonferroni post-hoc test using SPSS-21.
Results: The results showed that both couple therapy methods significantly improved the intimacy and self-differentiation of the couples with marital conflict. There was no significant difference between the effectiveness of these treatment models (p<0.05).
Conclusion: Based on the results of this study, application of these two approaches is recommended for improving intimacy and differentiation among couples with marital conflicts

Abstract

Background: Academic competence in the sense of knowledge, behavior, and obvious and hidden skills give people the ability to perform their duties effectively. Research shows that in addition to social support from important people in educational environments, emotion regulation is also one of the important factors of academic success and competence, but the mediating role of this concept has been neglected in the studied society.
Aims: This study aimed to determine the mediating role of cognitive emotion regulation in the relationship between perceived social support and academic competence.
Methods: The research method was descriptive-correlational, and the purpose of the research was applied. The statistical population of this study included all female high school students in the academic year 2020-2021 in Tehran, from which 610 students were selected by multi-stage random sampling. The instruments of the present study included the Academic Competence Evaluation Scale by Diperna & Elliott (1999), the Multidimensional Scale of Perceived Social Support by Zimet et al. (1988), and the Cognitive Emotion Regulation Questionnaire by Garnefski et al. (2001). Data were analyzed using structural equation modeling.
Results: The results showed that the structural model has an acceptable fit with the collected data. In the present study, the indirect path coefficient between perceived social support through non-adaptive cognitive emotion regulation strategies (p<0.01, β=0.106) and through adaptive cognitive emotion regulation strategies (p<0.01, β=0.142) were positive and significant at 0.01 level.
Conclusion: Based on the results of the present study, it is suggested to school counselors, clinicians, and therapists in the field of children and adolescents to assess and evaluate the level of social support of students, and to identify and consider its manifestations to regulate students' emotions and academic competence.

Abstract

Background: Some couples who initially pursue a mutual divorce end up choosing to reconcile and sustain their marriage after completing the legal processes and required counseling. Despite encountering difficulties and negative situations, these couples opt to negotiate and strive to preserve their relationship instead of terminating it.
Aims: The purpose of the current research is to identify the causes of compromise and withdrawal of divorce in couples applying for consensual divorce.
Methods: The research method was qualitative and foundation data type. The statistical population of the study was 18 couples who had given up on divorce in the Years 1400-1401 during divorce counseling at the West Tehran Health Counseling Center. The research tool was a semi-structured interview.
Results: The analysis interviews with the method of Strauss and Corbin (1990), leading to the extraction of 127 secondary codes, 31 main concepts, 17 categories and the identification of the central category (accommodation with the existing conditions and continued cohabitation), causal conditions (financial and economic resources, responsibility towards children), re-opportunity, fear of loneliness and isolation, lack of support and lack of definite decision); background conditions (dependent personality, conflict with the original family, uncertainty in decision-making); Intervening conditions (cultural and social issues, limited opportunities and lack of individual independence).
Conclusion: Based on the findings; A set of factors are involved in the couple's decision to opt out of consensual divorce and compromise. But improving the quality of life and the stability of marital relations after canceling a divorce requires strategies that couples use to maintain their married life.
