Abstract

Family is a social system and it is considered as one of the important bases of the society. Recognition of influential factors in enhancing this social entity can be a great step toward promotion of the society’s cultural level. In this study the contribution of three constructs of schema, attachment style and forgiveness in predicting the marital conflict were examined. The study was descriptive and correlational. The sample includes married teachers who were selected through cluster sampling in 1394. Data collection tools are initial schema questionnaires, attachment style scale, forgiveness questionnaire and marital conflict questionnaire.  Data was analyzed by calculating the Pearson correlation coefficient and stepwise regression analysis. The results show that among the schemas, the disconnection/rejection schema (p=0.01, β=0.12), impaired autonomy and performance (p=0.01،β=0.34), impaired limits (p=0/01،β=0.13), avoidant unsecure attachment style (p=0.01،β=0.11), anxious unsecure attachment style (p=0.01،β=0.31), secure attachment style (p=0.01،β=-0.37) and forgiveness (p=0.01،β=-0.63) predicted the marital conflict. The findings mean that higher schema and unsecure attachment style would increase the marital conflict, and higher forgiveness and secure attachment style would decrease the marital conflict

Abstract

Background: several researches have referred to relationship between Schemas as the core of human beliefs and personality styles and characteristics. According to this could we predict resiliency based on the schemas? Aims: This study was conducted with the aim of predicting the resiliency based on early maladaptive schemas and a five-factor model of personality in nurses working in governmental hospitals in Tehran. Method: The research method is descriptive and correlational. In this study 200 persons were selected according to available sampling method. In order to analyze the data, inferential statistics including Multiple Regression Analysis and Pearson Correlation Coefficient test were used. The tool used to measure variables was the schema questionnaire-short form (J. E. Young, 1998), Neo short form questionnaire (2004), and Conner & Davidson's resiliency questionnaire (2003). Results: Using Multiple Regression Analysis and Pearson Correlation Coefficient, relationship between neuroticism variables and early maladaptive schemas with resiliency is negative and significant (P<0/05) and the relationship between extroversion, openness to experience and responsibility with resiliency is positive and significant (P<0/05). Conclusions: The results showed that with increasing neuroticism and early maladaptive schemas, resiliency is reduced and with increasing extraversion, openness to experience and responsibility, resiliency is increased. The results also showed that the early maladaptive schemas had the greatest impact on resiliency.

Abstract

Background: Numerous studies have examined early maladaptive schemas and marital satisfaction and psychological distress. But there is research on the relationship between early maladaptive schemas and marital satisfaction and the psychological distress of infertile women. Aims: the present study was conducted to investigate the relationship between early maladaptive schemas and marital satisfaction and psychological distress of infertile women. Method: The method of this study was descriptive and correlational. The statistical population included all infertile women in Tehran in 2019. A total of 260 infertile women were selected from two infertility centers in Tehran using the available sampling method. In order to collect data, the short form of Yang's initial maladaptive schema questionnaire(1998), Questionnaire 47 Enrich Marital Satisfaction Question (1989), and Kessler's psychological distress questionnaire (2002) were used. Data analysis was performed using Pearson correlation test and multiple linear regression analysis. Results: There is a significant relationship between incompatible schemas of abandonment, defect, dependence, obedience, emotional inhibition and unrelated criteria with marital satisfaction (P< 0/05). There is also a significant relationship between maladaptive schemas of abandonment, dependence, underdeveloped self-development, emotional inhibition, unrelated criteria, insufficient self-control, and entitlement to psychological distress (P< 0/05). Conclusions: Early maladaptive schemas are among the factors that lead to a decrease in women's marital satisfaction during the infertility period and increase psychological distress.

Abstract

Background: growing studies indicates the role of emotional regulation on functional- physical disorders then addressing therapeutic intervention focused on this structure has great importance on the severity of clinical symptoms and negative emotional schemes of the patients.
Aims: The current study aims to determine the efficacy of treatment based on Emotional Schema Therapy of patients with functional neurological symptom disorder.
Methods: A non-congruent multiple baseline experimental single case studies was used as the method of this study. For this purpose, three women with functional neurological symptom disorder referred to the neurologist were selected through structured diagnostic interview and clinical interviews using purposive sampling. Structured clinical interview (SCID-5-RV), demographic characteristics interview, symptoms of somatic symptom disorders’ screening scale (SOMS-7), Leahy Emotional Schema Scale (LESS) and EST treatment guide were used as research tools.
Results: Obtained results were addressed suing, visual inspection, Reliable & change index (RCI), improvement percentage formula, significant clinical improvement and operational assessment.
Conclusion: Results obtained from the study indicated that emotional schema therapy with amending emotional structural processes and improvement of non-adaptive strategies of people against emotions leads to decrease in the severity of clinical symptoms and negative emotional schemes in patients with functional neurological symptom disorder.

Abstract

  1. Background: Numerous studies have shown that early maladaptive schemes play a role in various aspects of human life, but there is a research gap in the relationship between these schemes and career path adaptability.
Aims: The aim of this study was to investigate the relationships between early maladaptive schemes and adaptability of students' career path by network analysis.
Methods: The research method was descriptive, correlational and research tools were Young's Scheme Questionnaire (1990) and Savickas' Career Adaptability Questionnaire (2012). The statistical population included all students of universities and higher education institutions in the country in 2019, sampling method was non-random with maximum variation and the sample size was 849 people. Questionnaires were provided to students through Google Docs. Network analysis, R software and Qgragh package were used for data analysis.
Results: Based on the betweenness index, Unrelenting Standards scheme (20) and the confidence (19) were ranked first. Also, the shortest path between adaptability dimensions and schemes was obtained separately: The dimension of Concern, with the schemes of Approval-Seeking (10/21), Subjugation(10/76) and Insufficient Self- control(13/17), Control dimension, with schemes of Emotional Deprivation(9/99), Insufficient Self-Control(10/69) and Unrelenting Standards(11/76), Curiosity dimension with Insufficient Self-control(10/26), Emotional deprivation(10/99) and Mistrust(11/21), And the dimension of Confidence with Insufficient Self-control(8/10), Unrelenting Standards(9/17) and Failure to Achive(10/36), have the shortest distance, respectively.
Conclusion: The results showed that from 18 early maladaptive scheme, 8 schemes of Approval-Seeking, Subjugation, Insufficient self-control, Emotional Deprivation, Unrelenting Standards, Entitlement, Mistrust and Failure to Achive have the most role in various dimensions of students' career path adaptability.
