Abstract:   (24 Views)
Background: Various studies have explored the effects of therapeutic protocols and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy on conflict resolution and their influence on the quality of life for couples. However, until now, there has been no comparative study between these two therapeutic approaches.
Aims: The aim of the research was to compare the effectiveness of couple therapy based on acceptance and commitment and schema therapy on resolving conflicts and the quality of life of couples.
Methods: The research method was semi-experimental with pre-test, post-test and control group. The statistical population included women with low compatibility referring to the counseling centers covered by Tehran's welfare in 2021. In the first stage, 108 people were selected by purposeful sampling, and after completing the marital compatibility questionnaire, 45 people with low compatibility were selected. The random method was replaced in two experimental groups and a control group. The experimental groups were subjected to couple therapy based on acceptance and commitment and schema therapy during 10 sessions of 90 minutes. Research data were collected using marital conflict questionnaires (MCQ, Barkham et al., 1996) and quality of life questionnaire (WHOQOL-BREF, World Health Organization, 2004). Data were analyzed using SPSS 24 software and univariate covariance analysis.
Results: The findings showed that there is no significant difference between couple therapy based on acceptance and commitment and schema therapy in terms of effectiveness on resolving marital conflicts (P>0.05). Couple therapy based on acceptance and commitment is more effective on quality of life compared to schema therapy (P<0.05).
Conclusion: The results of this study demonstrate that both Acceptance and Commitment Therapy and the therapeutic protocol are effective tools in enhancing the quality of life for couples and resolving marital conflicts. This research, by presenting its findings, recommends universities, counseling centers, and welfare organizations to utilize these intervention methods in their services. Through this approach, they can assist individuals in improving their marital lives.
