Abstract:   (147 Views)
Background: Obsessive-compulsive disorder (OCD) of the washing type is one of the most common types of disorders that can have profound effects on individual life and interpersonal relationships. This study examines the role of interpersonal trauma in couples with this disorder in order to analyze the challenges and tensions caused by compulsive washing in marital relationships and its impact on the quality of marital life.
Aims: The aim of the present study was to qualitatively study inter-personal  couple injuries in women with washing compulsive disorder
Methods: This research was conducted with a qualitative approach and using a descriptive phenomenological method. The target population included all married women in Shiraz in 1403 who experienced washing-type obsessions. The participants of the research were 11 married women with washing obsessions who were invited to participate from among the referrals to counseling and psychological service centers in Shiraz using a purposeful sampling method with maximum diversity and were examined through a semi-structured interview. The data were analyzed using the seven-step Claise method using MAXQDA-20 software.
Results: Data analysis led to the extraction of 3 main themes and 6 sub-themes. The main themes are: pathology of power in the family, pathology of intimacy, pathology of boundaries.
Conclusion: Based on the research findings, it can be concluded that couples who have spouses with obsessive-compulsive disorder experience emotional incompatibility and shifting power boundaries in their relationships, because women with obsessive-compulsive disorder set rigid and one-sided rules in interpersonal relationships to reduce their anxiety, which causes discouragement, distrust, emptying relationships of positive emotions, and distorting the hierarchy of power and boundaries.
