Abstract:   (62 Views)
Background: Anxiety disorders and depression, as one of the most challenging mental health issues in adolescents, have a reciprocal and bidirectional relationship with transdiagnostic factors such as emotion regulation and interpersonal problems. Transdiagnostic treatment is one of the emerging treatments that is designed to overcome the limitations of traditional treatments and cover these transdiagnostic factors.
Aims: The present study was conducted to investigate the effectiveness of transdiagnostic therapy on interpersonal emotion regulation and interpersonal problems in adolescents with comorbid anxiety disorders and depression.
Methods: A semi-experimental design with a single case method was used to conduct the research. The statistical population included adolescents with anxiety and depression disorders referred to the psychological service centers of Isfahan in 2024, from which 4 people were selected through purposive sampling and were subjected to transdiagnostic treatment intervention (Barlow et al., 2011) in individual and weekly 45-minute sessions. The subjects were evaluated at baseline, third and sixth sessions using the scales of interpersonal problems and interpersonal emotion regulation. Visual plotting or graphical chart analysis, stable change index, clinical significance and percentage of improvement were used to analyze the data and evaluate the effectiveness of the treatment.
Results: Results: According to the results and based on the values of the Resilient Change Index (RCI≥1.96), the effectiveness of transdiagnostic therapy for the dimensions of interpersonal problems including difficulty in openness, support and participation, consideration of others, dependence, and also the variable of interpersonal emotion regulation was statistically significant for all three subjects, but it was not clinically significant for any of the subjects. The effectiveness of transdiagnostic therapy in the components of consideration of others (first subject) and dependence (third subject) was also clinically significant. However, in the component of difficulty in openness and sociability, the intervention was not significant for any of the subjects.
Conclusion: According to the results obtained, transdiagnostic therapy can be used as a suitable treatment option along with other existing interventions to improve interpersonal emotion regulation and interpersonal problems in adolescents with comorbid anxiety and depression.
