زمینه: در پژوهش‌های معماری و برنامه‌ریزی شهری، انتخاب روش پژوهش مناسب از اهمیت بسزایی برخوردار است؛ به‌ویژه در مطالعاتی که با بهره‌گیری از علوم شناختی و روان‌شناسی محیطی انجام می‌شوند. انتخاب روش پژوهش، تأثیر مستقیمی بر دقت، قابلیت اعتماد و کاربردپذیری یافته‌های پژوهش دارد.
هدف: این مقاله با هدف بررسی اهمیت انتخاب روش پژوهش در مطالعات معماری و شهری و ارائه چارچوبی برای به‌کارگیری رویکردهای مبتنی بر علوم اعصاب در پژوهش‌های آینده انجام شده است.
روش: در این پژوهش، مطالعاتی که از رویکردهای آزمایشگاهی و شبیه‌سازی مبتنی بر علوم اعصاب در پژوهش‌های معماری استفاده کرده‌اند، به روش مروری روایتی و روش‌شناختی بررسی شده‌اند. این مرور، مطالعات منتشرشده در فاصله سال‌های ۲۰۱۶ تا ۲۰۲۴ را دربر می‌گیرد که با استفاده از پایگاه‌های اطلاعاتی Scopus، Web of Science و ScienceDirect شناسایی شدند. معیارهای ورود به مطالعه بر پژوهش‌های داوری‌شده‌ای متمرکز بود که از سنجه‌های فیزیولوژیک یا عصبی - شناختی، از جمله الکتروانسفالوگرافی (EEG)، تصویربرداری تشدید مغناطیسی کارکردی (fMRI)، ردیابی حرکات چشم و شبیه‌سازی واقعیت مجازی (VR) استفاده کرده بودند. در مجموع، ۵۹ مقاله با استفاده از روش ترکیب کیفی یافته‌ها مورد تحلیل قرار گرفتند.
یافته­ ها: نتایج این مرور نشان می‌دهد که روش‌های مبتنی بر آزمایشگاه و شبیه‌سازی، در ارزیابی عوامل محیطی مؤثر بر ادراک و رفتار انسان، یافته‌هایی واقع‌گرایانه‌تر و قابل‌اعتمادتر ارائه می‌کنند. همچنین، پژوهش‌های اخیر بیانگر افزایش کاربرد رویکردهای مبتنی بر علوم اعصاب در مطالعات معماری و برنامه‌ریزی شهری است.
نتیجه‌گیری: انتخاب روش پژوهش مناسب، به‌ویژه استفاده از روش‌های آزمایشگاهی و شبیه‌سازی، برای دستیابی به نتایج معتبر، مستحکم و کاربردپذیر در پژوهش‌های معماری و برنامه‌ریزی شهری ضروری است. این مطالعه، چارچوبی روش‌شناختی برای هدایت پژوهش‌های آینده در این حوزه پیشنهاد می‌کند.
