Background: The examination of the concept of non-violence in Persian literature, particularly in Khurasani and Iraqi poetry, reveals deep connections between human and cultural principles. Many studies have analyzed literature in general, often neglecting the relationship between psychological principles and literary themes in this context. These research gaps highlight the need for deeper investigations in this area to achieve a better understanding of social and psychological issues through literature.
Aims: The aim of this study was to explore and analyze the concept of non-violence in Khurasani and Iraqi poetry, specifically in the works of Rudaki and Rumi, and its impact on the social and psychological understanding of the audience.
Methods: This qualitative research employed thematic analysis. The study's community comprised selected poems from two prominent Persian poets, Rudaki and Rumi, as well as theories from reputable psychologists regarding anger and violence. Purposeful sampling was utilized, focusing on poems related to non-violence and human and social analyses. Criteria for sample selection included content richness, thematic diversity, and the poems' influence on social thought. Data were analyzed using qualitative content analysis methods.
Results: The findings indicate that the themes of love, empathy, and non-violence in the poetry of Rumi and Rudaki have profound effects on social attitudes and behaviors. Data analysis reveals that these poems can serve as positive behavioral models, contributing to the reduction of violence and social tensions. Furthermore, the connection between love and the reduction of aggressive behaviors is particularly evident in Rumi's poetry, demonstrating the positive influence of literature on human behavior.
Conclusion: Based on the results of this study, it can be inferred that literature can play a key role in shaping a culture of peace and coexistence. By promoting human values through literature, it is possible to improve social relationships and reduce violent behaviors in communities. These findings serve as a foundation for future research in the fields of literature and social psychology.
